Everything you want to know before booking an appointment.
Osteopathy is a manual therapeutic approach based on a holistic view of the human body. It rests on several core principles: the interdependence of all body structures, the link between the state of a structure and its proper function, the importance of free and optimal circulation, and the body's natural capacity to self-heal. Through exclusively manual work, the osteopath identifies and treats mobility restrictions that may affect the patient's health. It prevents or addresses functional disorders of the human body, excluding organic pathologies requiring medical care, and is suitable for everyone from newborns to seniors.
No, an osteopath is a first-contact healthcare professional: you can consult directly, without a prior medical prescription. However, depending on your reason for consulting, prior medical advice may be recommended or required. If so, I will let you know when booking or at the start of the consultation. Note: some supplemental insurers require a medical prescription for reimbursement. I recommend checking the conditions of your policy with your insurer.
Useful items to bring: comfortable underwear or light, flexible clothing; any relevant test results (X-rays, MRI scans, recent blood tests, hospital reports); the health booklet for infants; and a towel. To prepare: note your symptoms in advance (onset date, triggering factors, what worsens or relieves the pain), and where possible avoid prolonged positions that aggravate your pain before the session.
The consultation lasts 60 minutes and is priced at 95 €. An invoice is provided at the end of the session for your insurance reimbursement request. Cash and bank card accepted.
In Luxembourg, osteopathic consultations are not covered by the Caisse Nationale de Santé (CNS). However, many supplemental insurers offer partial reimbursement depending on your policy conditions (DKV, Foyer, CMCM, AXA…). I recommend checking directly with your insurer before your first consultation. After payment, an invoice will be provided — the document required for your reimbursement request.
There is no universal answer to this question. It depends on your reason for consulting, your history, and how your body responds to treatment. Some complaints require only one session. Others may justify follow-up over several sessions — in which case I will explain the reason during the consultation. As for frequency, it also adapts to your situation. In most cases, a gap of around four weeks between sessions is preferable, to give the body time to integrate the treatment. Follow-up will never be proposed without a justified reason.
No. Osteopathy has a wide range of manual techniques, chosen according to your reason for consulting, your history and any apprehensions you may have. If a technique involves cracking, I inform you in advance and explain why it seems relevant in your situation. If you are not comfortable with this type of technique, I adapt and use an alternative. Note: cracking is neither a sign of success nor an indicator of danger. It simply corresponds to a pressure change inside the joint.
Yes. Osteopathy is not limited to treating existing pain or discomfort. It also plays a preventive role by identifying and treating mobility restrictions before they generate symptoms, supporting the body's major physiological functions, and accompanying periods of change or stress. Consulting outside of any pain allows you to act upstream, when the body is still compensating without apparent symptoms. Preventive consultation is particularly relevant after physical or emotional trauma, during lifestyle changes, during pregnancy, in growing children and teenagers, in athletes, or generally once or twice a year.
Cash and bank card accepted. An invoice is provided at the end of the session for your insurance reimbursement request.
