Who is it for?Infants

Osteopathy for infants

Birth is a major physiological event, both for the mother and the baby. In certain situations, mobility restrictions can persist and cause functional disorders. Osteopathy can then support the infant, as a complement to paediatric follow-up.

Exclusively gentle and adapted techniques

I have received specific training in infant care. The techniques used are gentle, non-invasive and painless: no cracking, no manipulation. These are micro-pressures adapted to the fragility and sensitivity of the infant, respectful of each stage of their development.

When should you consult?

To adapt to extra-uterine life, the infant's body must overcome the mechanical stresses associated with pregnancy and delivery. In the vast majority of cases, this adaptation happens naturally. Some births (those requiring instruments, a caesarean section, or presenting particularities such as breech presentation or a cord around the neck) may justify an osteopathic assessment. In these situations, a consultation helps evaluate the infant's adaptation and prevent the possible onset of functional disorders.

Common reasons for consultation

Digestive comfort

  • Colic and abdominal pain
  • Regurgitation and reflux
  • Sucking difficulties

Musculoskeletal tensions

  • Infant torticollis: difficulty turning the head to one side, asymmetrical comfort position
  • Cranial deformation: plagiocephaly, flattening of part of the skull

Comfort and sleep

  • Frequent or unexplained crying
  • Agitation, hypernervousness
  • Difficult sleep without apparent cause

How does an infant consultation work?

Osteopathic care of the infant is fully adapted to their age and development. The techniques used are gentle, non-invasive and painless. Parents are present throughout the session and can participate actively.

It may happen that the infant cries during the consultation; the osteopath adapts their approach accordingly.

If you have questions about the relevance of osteopathic care for your infant, do not hesitate to contact me before their first appointment.
