Osteopathy during and after pregnancy
Pregnancy is a period of deep and continuous transformations. These adaptations, although natural, can generate discomfort and pain that impact daily life. Osteopathy supports these transformations at every stage, using gentle and adapted techniques.
Osteopathy is in no way a substitute for obstetric follow-up
The techniques used are fully adapted to pregnancy: no high-velocity manipulation, gentle work on the pelvis and lower back, positioning adjusted according to the trimester. In the case of high-risk pregnancy, care is coordinated with your medical team.
During pregnancy
As the trimesters progress, the body adapts to accommodate and support the baby's development. These gradual changes can cause various tensions, pain and functional disorders. Osteopathy helps relieve these discomforts and allows the pregnancy to proceed in the best possible conditions.
Common reasons for consultation:
- Low back pain and mid-back pain
- Pubic symphysis pain
- Sciatica and cruralgia
- Digestive disorders: nausea, gastric reflux, constipation, bloating
- Fatigue and stress
Before childbirth
Late in pregnancy, osteopathy can help prepare the body for childbirth. The aim is to promote optimal mobility of the pelvis and surrounding structures, to allow the baby to adopt the most favourable position for a physiological birth in the best possible conditions.
After childbirth
After nine months of mechanical and hormonal adaptation, the new mother's body needs time and support to recover. Osteopathy intervenes in the post-partum period to help the body restore its functional balance and relieve pain secondary to childbirth.
And for your baby?
Birth is a demanding process for the newborn, who can also benefit from osteopathic support during the first months of life.
