Musculoskeletal disorders and osteopathy in Luxembourg

Neck tension at the end of the day, wrist pain, back stiffness after long hours at a screen? Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) account for more than 80% of recognised occupational diseases and affect all professions, regardless of sector.

What is a musculoskeletal disorder?

MSDs encompass all pain and functional disorders affecting joints, muscles and tendons. They develop gradually under the effect of repeated or prolonged strain. Professional activity frequently plays a role in their onset, persistence or aggravation.

Multiple, often combined origins

MSDs most often result from an accumulation of factors: prolonged postures, repetitive movements, load bearing, stress and mental load, or everyday physical effort. Regardless of the nature of the activity, it is often the repetition and duration that progressively create conditions favourable to their onset.

In people working at screens, MSDs often develop without any identifiable triggering event: persistent stiffness, recurring tension, numbness at the end of the day. The combination of prolonged postures, repetitive movements and stress gradually creates a fertile ground for their development.

Osteopathy and MSDs

The osteopath assesses the whole body to identify mobility restrictions that perpetuate pain, whether located in the painful area itself or at a distance. Treatment aims to restore mobility in the structures involved, reduce accumulated tension and support the body towards lasting recovery.

Beyond symptom relief, the consultation is also an opportunity to identify contributing factors and to give you concrete tools to limit their impact on daily life: workstation organisation, movements to adapt, exercises.
