Headaches, migraines and osteopathy in Luxembourg

Recurring headaches, tension around the skull, debilitating migraines? When they persist over time, they significantly impair quality of life. Osteopathy can be an effective complementary approach when they are of mechanical or functional origin.

Updated 11 March 2026

What is a headache?

The term headache refers to any type of pain localised in the head. Several forms are distinguished: tension headaches, migraines and cervicogenic headaches, i.e. those originating in the cervical region.

While some headaches require specific medical management, a large proportion are of mechanical or functional origin and can benefit from osteopathic support. They most often result from a combination of factors: muscle tension and cervical mobility restrictions, stress and mental load, prolonged postures in front of a screen, sleep disturbances or cranial sphere imbalances.

Osteopathy for headaches

Headaches of mechanical or functional origin often originate far from the painful area. The osteopath looks for all the mobility restrictions that may be perpetuating the symptoms, whether of muscular, articular, fascial or visceral origin.

The treatment aims to restore the mobility of the structures involved, reduce accumulated tensions and support the body towards lasting recovery. Personalised advice on lifestyle habits, sleep or stress management can complement the treatment.

Medical noteCertain signs should lead to a prior or urgent medical consultation: an unusual headache or one of unprecedented intensity, sudden and intense headaches, vision or balance disturbances, fever associated with headaches, or any other unusual sign. When in doubt, medical advice is essential before any osteopathic treatment.
